The Hungarians call themselfes "Magyar". This expression comes out of
the Finno-Ugric language and means something like "he is a human". The
first sources about the name "Magyar" date back to the 9th century.
The name Hungary (in German language: Ungarn) came from the Slavic into
the Eurpopean language. It had the meaning of the characterization of
tribes called onogur (on = "ten" + ogur = "tribe") between the 5th and
the 6th century. The ancestors of the Hungarians lived close to the
Empire of the Onogurs whose leading tribe was called "Onogurs".

17% of Hungarians inhabitants live in cities. The total population of
Hungary is about less than 10 mio. Like all the other Western industry
nations, also Hungary suffers under a decline in the birthrate and
obsolescence of the society.
